Mariska Hargitay sports low-cut striped swimsuit as she makes a splash on Hawaii beach break

A kidnap, a stabbing and torture are all in a day's work for Law & Order SVU's Mariska Hargitay.

Which is why the stress of filming the crime drama has lead the brunette beauty to Hawaii to finally let her hair down.

And the 50-year-old is doing it in spectacular style as she was pictured cannon balling into the sea this weekend, celebrating the final Sunday before the new year, her 16th on the show.

Mariska has been relaxing on a pleasure yacht with her husband Peter Hermann throughout the Christmas period.

The actress, a mother of three, showed off her enviable curves in a striped one-piece swimsuit as she leapt off the bow of the sail boat.

Her low-cut swimsuit was held up by halterneck straps, which allowed her to launch herself off the boat with full impetus.

Mariska was revealing her playful side, having taken a break from Series 16 of her serious crime fighting show, in which she plays Detective Olivia Benson.

The actress, also the daughter of Jayne Mansfield, has been with the show since its inception in 1996 and is now a busy mum of three, to boot.

Hawaii was an opportunity for Mariska to spend time with her husband and youngest son Andrew, who was pictured playing with his father on Saturday.

Mariska and Peter have one biological child, August, eight, and then Amaya, three, as well as three-year-old Andrew who were adopted in 2012 and 2011.

And while Mariska's storylines have mainly featured dark plots in recent years, the stories are set to brighten up for the character, who finds her own bundle of joy in the show.

The actress recently told The Today Show: 'It's just so sweet,' she said. 'The storyline is so moving to me. This year is a very different season from last year.

'Olivia Benson gets this ... baby plopped in her lap. It's nothing shy of a miracle to the character.'
